Are course dates guaranteed?
Not initially. Course dates are suggested dates, but depend on enrolments. If you enrol, we will keep in contact with you and advise if any changes are proposed and discuss your availability. All fees that you have paid will be reimbursed if the course does not run at a time that suits you.
When is a course date finally confirmed?
Courses will be confirmed as soon as the course reaches minimum numbers of students or rescheduled two weeks before the scheduled start date if minimum numbers are not reached
If I have paid, but I need to cancel, can I get my money back?
You can get your money back or defer your study to a later course up until 2 weeks before the course starts. After that, only a 50% refund is available.
Will I receive a certificate at the end of the course?
You will receive a Certificate of Completion if you have attended all sessions.
Can I get HECS funding for these courses?
Unfortunately, no.
Is there an exam at the end of the course?
There are no tests or exams in these courses.
Will this course improve my chances of gaining employment in the industry?
Yes, Picture Hire Australia, and our lecturers are highly regarded in the industry, but please be aware that this is a highly competitive industry, and your chances of employment will require more than any course can deliver alone.
I don’t necessarily want to become a full-time worker in the industry. Is this course suitable for an enthusiastic amateur?
Absolutely. The course is interesting in its own right, and applicable to anyone with an interest in shooting video.
What if I miss one session? Can I catch up in a later course?
If you have missed a session, we may be able to fit you in to a later session, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Will I have hands-on experience with equipment?
Yes definitely, but these courses are quite short, so obviously, actual practical experience must be limited by the time factor.
Will I be able to contact my lecturers for ongoing mentoring after the course is completed.
Yes. All lecturers are staff members of Picture Hire Australia, and as an organisation we have a policy of giving free information to all of our clients. You will remain a valued client and can contact us whenever you wish.
Can I bring my own camera and use that in class?
If the camera is a current or recent model similar to the cameras we supply, you may be able to use it. Because we use Sony or Arri cameras in class, other brands are not permitted (due to time constraints). Please speak to us about your situation before classes commence.
If I use a different camera to the models used in class, is the course still suitable for me.
Absolutely. While every camera of every brand has different features, the basic principles are identical. Differences are easily understood once you have the knowledge acquired in class.
